Project founded by Daniela Espinosa-Casillas in Brooklyn, NY.

Daniela came up with Cruda while experimenting with Guatemalan weaving and dyeing techniques, after spending 12 months in Guatemala throughout the last 4 years. She also includes photography and embroidery, both mediums she has been working with since childhood, mostly inspired by her Mexican father and Puerto Rican mother.

Her mission is to create handmade garments and homewares that add colour and life to the ubiquitous monochromatic palette. to do so, she uses yarns and fabrics sourced directly from Guatemala, supporting indigenous women weavers in various areas. Weaving and cotton dyeing is one of the main sources of income for many households in Guatemala.

This project came about with nature, friendship, and quarantine 2020.
